Wheel of Fortune Episode for 4/11/2014

On this episode of Wheel of Fortune, three contestants; two ladies and one gentleman battled their way to winnings on the popular game-show. The last game of the College Week play, our three contestants hail from Texas A&M, Indiana University and Alabama University.

The first Toss-Up puzzle-a puzzle that puts up random letters until a contestant can solve the puzzle-was worth $1000 and centered on College Life. Laura Landriff -a senior at Alabama scored first by solving the puzzle with Course Catalog.  Julian Bats- a senior at Indiana-Bloomington-was the only male contestants on tonight's show. Shelby Edmuston-is a sophomore at Texas A&M, and the third contestant to round out the show.

The second Toss-Up puzzle-a Phrase- was worth $2000 and determines who starts the first spin round. Clicking her buzzer a little early, Laura wasn't able to get the puzzle, but a few seconds later Julian answered correctly with Trending on Twitter. Lonely Planet sponsored yet another wonderful international trip-this time to London, England-UK. A prize package worth $7500 dollars.

The first spin puzzle-Character-got off to a great start as Julian worked his way through the letters. He went on to buy up all the vowels and land on a nice $2500 dollar space; only to lose with the guess of an N. Shelby barely got started with her turn before landing on the horrid Lose A Turn space to pass the game on to Laura. Laura then landed on the Bankrupt game piece to hand it back to Julian who chose to spin again. Going on to pick up the London trip as well as the Million Dollar game piece Julian lost it all when he mispronounced the puzzle-Mythological Hero Achilles. Shelby then got a chance to “solve” the puzzle by pronouncing “Achilles” correctly.

The game shows mystery round-a space on the wheel worth a hidden amount of money-was sponsored by Garlique. The space was worth a whopping $10,000. The next spin puzzle-a Before and After-was started by Shelby. Starting off great, Shelby landed early on a Lose A Turn piece to hand the game over to Laura, who won a Wild Card on her first spin. Going with an H, of which there weren't any, Laura passed the game back to Julian.

Redeeming himself by landing on a $3500 dollar piece Julian found two N's for the Before and After puzzle, to round out his total to $7550. He then bought the letter I. After selecting the letter C, Julian was able to solve the puzzle, which read: Science Project Runway.

The next spin round started with a Person-Prize Puzzle. A prize puzzle is a puzzle that has a special prize added to the wheel, which is another opportunity to win something great for the contestants. Dogged again by the Lose A Turn space, Laura again passed the wheel to Julian. Julian then landed on the $3500 dollar space-again- to gain three T's and rack up an amazing $10,500-just to spin again! He also grabbed a $1000 dollars cash on a Style Watch Magazine game piece. He also scored a Free Play, and a ½ Car game piece.  Julian kept up his winning streak by landing on the other ½ Car game piece, but lost it all again when he wasn't able to solve the puzzle. Shelby, however, was able to solve it-The World's Fastest Man. She also won herself a trip to Jamaica-worth $7,280 dollars.

The last Toss Up puzzle-A Proper Name-was worth $3000 and went to Laura again with Edgar Allen Poe. The next category-a Thing-was the last puzzle and Pat Sajak gave the wheel a final spin, making the consonants worth $1500. Julian once again slipped up with a mispronunciation to give Shelby the chance to solve the puzzle-On-The-Spot Decision. Shelby ended up a close second with $9,787 dollars.  Laura ended up in third with $4000. Julian-who struggled to stay alive with his significant forfeits- landed on top with $11,700 to play the bonus round.

Julian got a pre-puzzle pep talk from Pat, about solving the Person-puzzle, but with the letters that were given and the ones he chose weren't enough to get him the answer of Top Draft Pick, for which he lost a chance at $30,000.
