In this episode of Wheel of Fortune, we start a fresh Spring
Break week. The first Toss Up puzzle-a puzzle that gives random letter choices
out, until someone solves the puzzle, was worth $1000, and was an On The Map
category.
Grace, one of two female contestants, came out swinging with
the correct answer of Palm Springs, California. Grace Park is a graduate
student who hopes to be a counselor in the future. We also met Stacey St. John
from Ohio, who is an online marketing specialist and a wife and mother. Mike
Lee-the only male contestant on tonight's show, works for a non-profit group
out of Oregon.
The next Toss Up-a Person category, helped to determine who
starts the first spin round. The early bird catches the worm, and Mike was
certainly the early bird for this puzzle, scoring the first spin with My New
Best Friend. The jackpot round-a round in which a nice jackpot game piece,
worth $6000 dollars, is placed on the board-was sponsored by Act mouthwash, and
started things rolling.
The first spin round started off with an 80's themed
category, and Mike got the first spin. Mike landed on the Wild Card and scored
a thousand dollars with an S guess, but failed to continue when he guessed a T,
of which there weren't any. This passed the game on to Grace. Grace got off to a great start by landing on
the ½ Car game piece, which is good towards winning a smart car. She also
racked up some nice cash before guessing a C, which then passed the puzzle on
to Stacey. She quickly left the game back in Mike's hands by asking for an N,
of which there were none. Mike promptly landed on the Million Dollar piece and
guessed an F, of which there were three. He was then able to solve the movie
puzzle with Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Grace started the next round with a Food and Drink puzzle.
Grace was on a roll with her puzzle until she asked the guess the puzzle with
the incorrect answer of Bratwursts and Sauerkraut. This gave Stacey a chance to
play, and she was able to solve the puzzle with the correct answer of
Frankfurters and Sauerkraut.
After
some laughs about bratwursts and frankfurters, the next round of play got
started with a Same Letter puzzle. Working her way through the alphabet, Stacey
was doing well until she guessed an I, which then passed the puzzle to Mike.
Mike landed on another ½ Car piece to battle Grace for the Smart-car. Guessing
the letter F, Mike found the common denominator to all four words, but on his
next spin he unfortunately hit the Bankrupt game piece and lost all of his
previous game pieces, including the Million dollar stunner. Grace followed up
by also landing on the Bankrupt piece. With the guess of an R, Stacey went on
the solve the Fabulous-Fragrant-Fresh-Flowers, puzzle. On top of the $4200
she'd racked up, Stacey also secured a beautiful trip to St. Croix in the
Virgin Islands. A prize worth, $7,980 dollars.
After the commercial break, we hit the trail again with a
nice $3000 dollar Toss Up. The Thing puzzle didn't take long to solve as Grace
buzzed in with Status Symbol. She went on to start the next spin round with a
Phrase puzzle, but quickly fizzled when the guess of a T failed to produce any.
Stacey came out on fire with this puzzle and spun her way through to a $5000
dollar game piece, which then allowed her to solve the puzzle with Firing On
All Cylinders. Racking her total up to $21,430 Stacey went on to play the next
puzzle with Grace and Mike.
The final spin came on the last Living Thing puzzle. Addin
$1000 to the game piece consonants were then worth a whopping $6000 dollars!
Choosing to guess the vowels, Mike took home a nice $3,000. Grace ended the
game with $4,000 and Stacey went on to the bonus round with a stunning $27,430.
The Things puzzle proved to be a difficult one to solve, even with the partial
answer that Stacey came up with. Showing a Displays And Exhibits, answer Stacey
missed out on adding $30,000 to her total, but seemed very happy with her
ending total.
