On America's Game Show tonight, we met
three contestants who were feeling lucky enough to pit their version
of “Lady Luck,” against the mighty Wheel to see who'd come out
the victor. As is traditional, the first Toss Up puzzle is given
first. It's worth $1000 dollars and is the first chance the
contestants have to sink their teeth into some cash. Tossing out
random letters until the puzzle it solved, tonight the Phrase
category puzzle went to, Andre Coldwell from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
who quickly solve it with; History In The Making. Summer Briselle
from Boise, Idaho and Jennifer Jackson from Norman, Oklahoma, were
both hoping to add to their totals much the same way that Andre did.
The next Toss Up, worth $2000, was an
Around The House category, and helped to determine who got to go
first in the initial Spin puzzle. Jennifer scored quickly with the
Sectional Sofa answer. At this point in the game Jim-The
Announcer-always has something wonderful to add to the wheel to make
it that much sweeter. The trip to Ceaser's Palace in Las Vegas Nevada
was worth a hefty, $7500 dollars.
Jennifer got the first go round on the
80's category spin puzzle. Guessing an S and buying an E, Jennifer
was excited about the possibility of getting the ½ Car piece she'd
landed on, but guessed the letter T and had to pass the game on to
Andre. Andre also got two spins. He guess the letter R and bought the
vowel A, before the retched Lose A Turn reached up to bite him. Much
like the two previous players, Summer guessed the letter N and bought
the vowel I. Her third guess of D passed the game right back to
Jennifer as there were no D's to be had. Jennifer finally had a bout
of luck by landing on the $2500 dollar space and guessing the letter
G. She then went on to solve the puzzle with; Solving A Rubik's Cube.
The next puzzle was a Food & Drink
category and had enough letters for everyone to get in on the action!
Andre was doing swimmingly picking up a Wild Card and the Mystery
prize piece to reveal a very nice $10,000 dollars on the reverse
side. However, when he went to solve the puzzle he misspoke and was
not able to claim the prize for the solve. Summer was ready and
waiting, and after a few spins to earn some money; she lost it all on
the dreaded Bankrupt piece. After two spins to earn some cash,
Jennifer was able to solve the puzzle with: Chocolate Sundae With A
Cherry On Top. Andre had said, Chocolate Shake With A Cherry On Top.
The next spin puzzle was all about
Landmarks. Summer landed on the free play and was able to go again
after guessing a letter that wasn't on the board. Her second spin
landed her on the Express train $1000 dollar game piece and she
hopped on for the ride, gaining a thousand dollars for every correct
consonant that she got right. Working her way slowly through one
letter after another Summer was able to eventually solve the puzzle
with, Big Ben And The Eiffel Tower; and she racked up a very nice
$13,250 dollars while she was at it. Because Summer was working on a
Prize Puzzle, she won trips to both London and Paris to see “Big
Ben and The Eiffel Tower.” Her dual trip was worth an amazing
$11,197 dollars.
After the break the last Toss Up of the
game, worth a steady $3000 was put up for the contestants to work
out. The Fun & Games puzzle was quickly solved by Andre with,
Donkey Kong. The last puzzle popped up on the board and Pat gave the
wheel it's notorious Final Spin. Consonants became $1700 dollar wads
of cash and each contestant was allowed 3 seconds to solve the puzzle
after each of their letter guesses. With the letter B, Jennifer was
able to solve the last puzzle, but it wasn't enough to catch Summer
who was overjoyed to be going to the Bonus Round.
After spinning the “mini-wheel,”
Summer took her place next to Pat for her Phrase puzzle. After
working with the usual culprits: R, S, T, L, N, and E; Summer added:
F, G, P and O for a little extra boost. Even with the great help from
the combined letters, without the beginning letter of the first word,
Summer wasn't able to add the extra $30,000 to her total. However,
she seemed happy at the end to walk away with a nice $24, 447
dollars.
